Chelsea prepared to sell defender after injury struggles
Fofana joined Chelsea in August 2022 for £75 million, but the player was not available the majority of the time due to long-term injuries one after another, including ligament tears and hamstring issues. But this season the player is available most of the time and has played around 30 matches for Chelsea.
As a part of squad cleanup, Chelsea wants to offload Fofana, and the asking price is said to be around 30 million euros.
Barcelona still undecided on defensive priority
The player is right-footed and capable of playing as a center back and right back. The player is technically elegant on the ball and aerially sound, but Barcelona still has not decided whether they need to prioritize a right center back or a left center back.
Injury concerns remain a major obstacle
Wesley Fofana is not the ideal player on the market for Barca considering his injury record and availability. Fofana is 25 years old but does not have the capability to lead defense as a leader, and Barcelona already has well-established players like Pau Cubarsi in that role. If Fofana costs 30 million, then chances are less that Deco will sign the player.
